Day 9

Michael and I went to lunch and discussed more applications for the business. Why not local school mascots, sport sayings and school logos? I will need to see if designs are copyrighted and how much to use.
Also we have a way to pay for the first vinyl cutter come July.
The dog here today is the American Water Spaniel.

Day 3

We didn't work on the business yesterday. Michael is a little under the weather. But he did look at websites for the equipment and talked to Chris about what size of machine we might need.
This morning we were looking at a website that sells Sir Cuts Alot. I will probably order that next payday. We are also watching a cutter on Ebay. He will be cleaning off my desk and installing the Cricut upstairs.

Today's spotlighted dog is the Airedale. When I was young I almost was given one by John Barry (friends of the family). But I think they didn't want to give him away. A neighbor of ours when I was young used to roller skate by everyday with his 2 Airedales pulling him. Since I was a roller skating freak back then it made me want an Airedale even more, but it wasn't to be. And now they are too active of a dog for us.

Still working on the name for our little venture. I came up with a few. Waiting to see what Michael will think up.

Day One

The concept of our new business came to us this weekend. We went to the county fairgrounds where they were holding the Spokane Kennel Club's dog show. We checked out all the vendors, and sure enough, we found a crying need for our product. Besides dog shows we can set up at agility dog meets, dog events, and Petfest.
We looked at the booths and how they were set up. We will need 2 or 3 tables, a banner, tall poles to hold the banner, a way to showcase our products, business cards, and credit card machine and receipts.
We also need to create a website, displays and flyers. The flyers and/or displays can be put in all veternary clinics, boarding kennels, dog grooming shops and other stores they have anything to do with pets.
Later we would like to place advertisements in dog and pet magazines.
But first the equipment will need to be purchased and training will be involved. I am hoping my father-in-law who is in the business will help us with training.
We will need to come up with a name. We have decided it will be a subsidary of my existing business which I already have a business licence and resellers permit.
So much to do. But we want to do it right this time. This is for our retirement.
